Finding love on the internet is possible, I know because I have done it. It isn't easy, but you can find your perfect match if you look hard enough.

A bigger net catches more fish

O.K so it's not fish we are interested in but girls. The analogy is useful though, sign up to as many free dating sites you can find, and social media sites. Write a good long profile, this will mean more chance of girls finding you through searches. Make sure you have a good photo uploaded, don't have a silly one, or one that is hard to see your face. You're something like 80% more likely to get messages if you have an image.

Don't have a standard message

Writing a big long generic email, and sending it to every girl in your area is unlikely to be fruitful. Girls want to see you have read their profile, and are interested in them, not just any female that will have you. Comment on at least one point of the girls profile, or ask a question about something she mentions.

Find girls in other places apart from dating sites

There are plenty of places girls hang out online, without having to go on dating sites. Social sites like Myspace, Facebook and Bebo all let you make friends with random people. When submitting a friend request, it's always best to write a little message. This shows you aren't just a spammer wanting to promote your slimming pills or something. You could also find nice girls in online games, forums or bookmarking sites.

Try not to be too fussy

When I needed a date, I wasn't too fussy about who I met. So you might not be blown away with how a girl looks, but maybe you're no oil painting yourself. Photos on websites can be deceptive, in a good or bad way. Take all the opportunities you can to meet girls face to face, if it doesn't work out it's no big deal.

Don't be afraid to go on dates

Messaging people on the internet is fine, but it isn't going to get you a girlfriend alone. After a few messages it's likely you will ask the girl out on a date and get her number. Ringing a girl has always been the hardest part for me. I sometimes find it useful to write a few notes before a first phone call. Obviously it's not cool to sound like you're reading off a list, but it can help if you get stuck in an awkward pause. You've probably found out a few things about her already, so this is your chance to expand your knowledge.
